Mary McLellan obtained her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Syracuse University in 1982. She worked for 12 years in Virginia, obtaining certification as a school psychologist in Virginia and licensure as a clinical psychologist. In 1993 she accepted a tenure track teaching position at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, Arizona. She has obtained licensure as a psychologist in Arizona as well as certification in school psychology. She has also maintained her Nationally Certified School Psychologist credential. In 2006 she received promotion to full professor at the NAU. While at NAU she has completed various research studies working with children of Navajo and Hopi descent with specific emphasis on fair assessment practices. Her research has been with children ages birth through 21 years of age. She has worked as a consulting psychologist for Children’s Rehabilitative Services in Flagstaff for the past 10 year, serving the children of Northern Arizona with complex medical needs. In addition, Mary has worked as a consulting psychologist for various programs and school districts on the Navajo and Hopi Nations. These consultations include Window Rock Unified School District, Jeddito School District, Kayenta Unified School District, Hopi Head Start, Havasupai Head Start, Havasupai Community School, Hualapai Head Start, and Indian Children’s Program.
